Gap Year S7E7 | The Hungry Ghost in Your Business (and What She's Really Hungry For)
It's been a long time between eps, and a lot has happened. After a whirlwind trip home to Australia, we're now in Chiang Mai, and a dream a few nights ago cracked something wide open for me: I've been feeding the hungry ghost.
In Buddhist tradition, the hungry ghost has a vast belly and a mouth the size of a pinhole, so no matter how much she consumes, she's never full. In this episode, I share how nine back-to-back program launches were my way of feeding her, the four patterns I see in so many of us who build businesses to fill an emptiness that work can never fill, and the flip that changes everything: our hunger was never the problem.
In this episode:
- Why nine back-to-back launches were my way of feeding a hungry ghost (and how burnout finally made me stop)
- The four ways we feed the hungry ghost in business, from overgiving and resentment to choking on the sale
- Why another program, client or $10,000 more a month will never fill the hole
- The flip that changes everything: your hunger was never the problem, it's sacred appetite fed the wrong fuel
- The way home: tending the parts that created the hunger, and being held in community
Questions to sit with:
- Which hungry ghost have you been feeding lately?
- What conditions are you putting on what you truly value?
- What's your true sacred appetite underneath it all?

Want an invitation to Hearth?
Hearth is an intimate five-month self devotion circle for rebel and revolutionary healers and helpers who are ready to break free from a lifetime of self-sacrifice, proving their worth and holding everyone else, and say yes to the revolution of choosing themselves first.
It's not a program, a course, a framework or a strategy. It's a place to be warmed, welcomed and witnessed. Each week, we gather by the fire for fireside wisdom circles and receiving portals, moving through the five elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, so you can rest, receive and finally be held, instead of always doing the holding. This is where the hungry ghost finally gets fed.
We begin on 23 November, and there are just seven seats by the fire.
If you'd like an early invitation, email me at [email protected] and tell me which hungry ghost you've been feeding. I'll send you the link. Early invitations are open until 1 November.
Big love from warm Chiang Mai,
Kylie x
